The Elgin Nor-Khill Gangtok

It was a very nice and luxurious property, felt like a colonial era hotel, the behaviour of every staff is very polite and friendly. The receptionists,cleaners,manager,watchman and waiters such as ashish kabi were very friendly.Overall a great experience.Food was very delicious, just they should include a small gaming room to pass the time, the best facility provided by them is that they call taxis to visit nearby places which is very helpful in places which we do not know,Good Property

If you are searching for a heritage-style or luxury 5-star stay in Gangtok, this property will likely appear among the top recommendations. Its location is excellent close to the city center and within walking distance of MG Marg. The walk to MG Marg involves an uphill climb, while the return journey is much easier as it is mostly downhill.The lobby has a charming heritage character and creates a warm first impression. The gardens are beautifully maintained and provide a pleasant setting for outdoor dining. The restaurant, where breakfast and other meals are served, is well laid out, with a few tables overlooking the garden.The rooms, however, show their age. Some of the furnishings, including lamps and decorative elements, could benefit from refurbishment or replacement. Families may find the Premium Suite to be the best accommodation option, as it is newer and more spacious, although it requires climbing additional stairs. The hotel does not have elevators, and rooms are not equipped with air conditioning, which is generally not an issue given Gangtok’s pleasant climate. However, during the warmer months of May and June, some guests may miss having AC.The family suites vary in layout and quality, and I found some of them less impressive than expected. The property would benefit from a comprehensive refresh, particularly the carpets and certain decorative features, which appear dated. The pricing is on the higher side, making expectations naturally higher as well.Overall, I had a good stay and enjoyed the heritage ambiance, location, and gardens. While the experience was positive, I would rate it slightly below a 4-star experience rather than a solid 4, mainly because the rooms and interiors are due for modernization.

We are very happy with the service of the hotel very cooperative and friendly especially Basudev sir who helped in our comfortable stay .The views from the hotel are breathtaking .Overall every penny is worth it .Do include this in your itinerary.

Extremely bad.We booked two rooms well in advance, for two days. At the last min the hotel cancelled, for one day n we had to scramble around to find booking in another hotel.One night that we did end up staying, we got room number 501 n 502. With a view that's facing a wall right out of the room window.Room 501, is located next to the pump room which they kept running through out the night. So entire night there was loud pump noise , which made it impossible to sleep.It's a pretty hotel with nice rooms but people who are managing it are extremely unprofessional and under any circumstances, room 501 needs to be avoided due to the loud pump noise, issue.

Extremely beautiful , vintage and heritage property. Well decorated rooms which are cleanly maintained. Friendly staff. Close by to most tourist places and MG marg which is 10 min steep walk . Food was excellent.
