THE HIMALAYAN WOODS, CHAUKORI

Our stay at Himalayan Woods was unforgettable; the atmosphere was ideal and the service outstanding. The mountain range views were incredible, beyond what we imagined. The food was also superb, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Chaukori. Many thanks to the Joshi family. If possible, I would love to return for a longer stay.

The location was a bit hard to locate. We arrived around 8:30 pm and stayed for two nights. The room assigned to us was excellent, supposedly the best in the homestay, located on the first floor in the middle; it was quite spacious with a drawing room and a master bedroom, and the bathroom was large. All modern facilities were available. The garden was decent and had three adorable dogs. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the Himalayan range due to the weather. For meals, you have to go down to the dining area, or pay extra to have food served in your room. The food was average. Overall, we had a satisfactory stay. They charged Rs 500 for the driver, which we were not informed about during check-in.

Incredible view

Truly a peaceful and lovely home away from home. Chaukori is already a quiet hill station, and this homestay is located in the most tranquil part of Chaukori, so you can imagine the calmness. The room is beautiful with all essential amenities, and the host Rakesh is wonderful, an excellent photographer, and a modest, helpful person. The staff is polite, supportive, and kind. The food menu is limited but the dishes are tasty, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The drive to the homestay may seem a bit steep and narrow for those new to hill driving, but it is definitely worth it. There is plenty of parking space for at least 5-6 cars. On clear days, the Himalayan peaks can be seen clearly and up close from the property. I wholeheartedly recommend this place and stay.

The room was excellent, spacious, and well maintained. The service was acceptable, but the food could be improved as it was not up to the mark.
