Cooked food on premium trains (Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto) had already been restored in December 2021. Also, the ready-to-eat meal service would continue.

It is notable that the catering services were suspended as a part of coronavirus safety measures that have been in place since March 2020. With a decline in the COVID-19 positivity rate in the country, ready-to-eat meals were started in trains from August 2020.
