Adding to the debate of resuming domestic flights, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri confirmed that resumption of domestic flights depends on the approval of specific state governments.
Amid the nationwide lockdown, all scheduled commercial passenger flights have been suspended since March 25. Although cargo, medical evacuation flights and special flights have been operational during this period.
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted, ‘It is not up to the Ministry of Civil Aviation or the Centre alone to decide on resuming domestic flights. In the spirit of cooperative federalism, the government of states where these flights will take off and land should be ready to allow civil aviation operations.’
