Railways to provide meals to the homeless amidst COVID-19 lockdown

Indian Railways has taken up a noble initiative to support thousands of homeless people by providing “distress meals” amidst India’s 21-Day Lockdown.

All zonal headquarters of railways were asked to make provisions to make meals available in bulk across several areas of their respective zones. The meals will include simple staple food such as dal khichdi with pickle. While certain other areas are working towards providing people with Swaminarayan khichdi. Meals will be provided to 3,000 to 5,000 people in one go through several base stations.
