The Great Kebab Factory (TGKF)- Where Kebabs are King

When dining at the restaurant, we got the feel that we were at a virtual food factory, with the cutlery and serving dishes resembling factory tools, the staff wearing dungarees and the open kitchen allowing us to see the work going into the food. TGKF exudes vibrant colours, lively sounds and a very distinct ambience that adds to the ethnic yet modern feel to the restaurant.

There are very few choices you can make when you visit The Great Kebab Factory, one of the popular restaurants in New Delhi. One can only decide if you wish to have the vegetarian or the non-vegetarian meal.  So, we were served salad, six varieties of kebabs (you can choose from galouti kabab, burrah kabab, pathar ke kabab, chooza khara masala, lagan ki chaap, narangi chooza, gosht babri seekh and more. Veggies can look forward to paneer pudina tikka, bhey ki shammi and malai broccoli, buttermilk, biryani (a choice of vegetarian, chicken, and lamb) with raita, two dal preparations, subzi of the day, assorted Indian breads (like bakharkhani, sheermal and more) and four desserts that included pan ice cream, phirni, gulab jamun and tilla kulfi.

Each of the items on the menu was served one after another, and we were free to ask for repeats. The menu is changed daily except for signature dishes like galouti kabab, subz galouti kabab and dal factory. Accompaniments like ulte tawe ke parathe (served with galouti kebabs), raita (served with biryani), and chutneys (mint, peanut, tomato and tamarind) add to the dining experience. The restaurant, I was informed, has a recipe bank of over 450 kebabs that include many closely-guarded family recipes passed down through the ages. We experienced mouth-watering kebabs prepared in seven different styles, roasted on the tandoor or on a sighri, shallow-fried in a tawa or a mahi tawa, deep-fried in a kadhai, steamed in pots, and even grilled on a stone. TGKF is also renowned for its signature Indian beverages that include their unique chhachh, mango lassi and pineapple panna. The service is excellent the kababs keep coming in baskets around all tables. The concept of eat-all-you-can, combined with the delicious kababs have made this brand a hot favourite.
