Udaipur-Ajmer railway line electrification complete

Trains between Udaipur and Ajmer are set to run on an electrified line from today. This will be the first section in the Ajmer division to have the electrified line.

Electrification work on the Udaipur-Ajmer section started in March 2016. Foundation laying between Ajmer and Bhilwara and 36 km electric lines had also been laid back in 2017.

Book Trains

Passenger and freight trains will run along a 25000 kW line on this route and the lines will be able to accommodate train speeds of 120-130 kmph. The current speed of trains along this route is 80-100 kmph.

Electricity for the lines will be taken from Ajmer Discom. Ajmer railway division is building traction substation at Nasirabad, Hamirgarh, Sareri, Ghosunda, Mavli and Umra.

The total length of the electrified route is 295 km and the electrification process has been expected to cost around Rs.320 Crores.
