Attention, rail passengers! India’s first centralised AC railway terminal in Bengaluru is all set to be inaugurated soon.

Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.314 crore, the railway terminal equipped with all the modern facilities has been designed to offer an airport-like experience to the passengers. It is named after Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, and is Bengaluru’s 3rd railway terminal in Baiyappanahalli area.

Here are the features that make this terminal special:

> Built along the lines of Bengaluru airport, this is the 1st railway terminal in India that is centrally air-conditioned.

> 50 trains can be operated from the station per day.

> Spread over 4,200 sq m, it can accommodate about 50,000 passengers daily.

> The terminal has 7 platforms, 8 stabling lines and 3 pit lines.

> The escalators and lifts will connect 7 platforms to allow passenger movement.

> A foot over-bridge built along with 2 subways will link all platforms.

> The terminal will have an upper-class waiting hall, a lavish food court, and a VIP lounge with a digital real-time passenger information system.

The parking area would be able to accommodate as many as 250 cars, 900 two-wheelers, 50 autorickshaws, 5 BMTC buses and 20 cabs.
