Now in a tweet, the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced that Railways is working to connect the four dhams by rail network:

For this, Railways will be laying four railway lines, most of which will pass through inaccessible hilly areas. The total length of the railway network will be 327 kilometres and the route will pass through Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi.

The survey work for laying a 125 km-long railway line between Gangotri and Yamunotri has already been completed.

As per latest reports, there will be a total of 10 stations in this entire railway line. The aim of the project is to provide devotees with a convenient and safe way to complete the Char Dham Yatra.
