Railways Adds Trains for Chhath Puja, Renames Faizabad Jn. as Ayodhya Cantt.

Namaste! As the country prepares to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, the Railways is also gearing up to accommodate the passenger rush ahead of the festivities. The Railways is preparing for Chhath Puja by running new special trains and increasing coaches in existing trains.

Along with this, the national transporter has also renamed Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad Junction Railway Station as Ayodhya Cantonment.

Chhath Special Trains

The DRM of Samastipur Division under the East Central Railway has shared a list of as many as 34 special trains running on various dates. These trains conveniently pass through Samastipur, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Barauni, Sitamarhi and other destinations in Bihar:

The East Central Railway will also be running train nos. 03697/03698 between KSR Bengaluru and Danapur via Ara, Buxar and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jn.:

The North Eastern Railway has announced six Chhath Special trains. These trains will ply to Gorakhpur, Barauni and Darbhanga:

The North Eastern Railway has also added sleeper class coaches to nine trains, in order to ease the long waiting list of passengers:

Faizabad Junction renamed as Ayodhya Cantonment

The Railways has also changed the name of Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad Junction to Ayodhya Cantonment With immediate effect. The station code for Ayodhya Cantt. will now be AYC, as opposed to the earlier station code FD. 

The station falls under the Lucknow Division of Northern Railway, who confirmed the above information in a tweet:
