Italy recently introduced a visa program tailored for digital nomads, which will enable professionals to work remotely while immersing themselves in the country’s beauty. This initiative began on April 4, which started off by offering visas valid for up to one year. Meanwhile, Spain’s visa guidelines were also updated on April 13.

As per the Italian Government’s definition, a digital nomad is a non-EU citizen who is involved in “highly qualified work activities.

Non-EU nationals can apply for digital nomad visas in Italy and Spain. Applicants must prove their status as digital nomads or remote workers for at least six months and provide accommodation proof in the respective countries. It’s also crucial to confirm no criminal convictions within the last five years for applicants.

To obtain Italy’s Digital Nomad Visa, individuals need to visit the Italian consulate in their country of residence. Once approved, they must obtain a residence permit within eight days of their arrival in Italy. To apply, there’s an income threshold of about $30,000.
