Fort Tiracol Goa

ive always loved coming here for lunch, only finally i decided to come and stay and it surprised me. The rooms are much more spacious than i thought, tastefully decorated in period furnishings , spacious washroom, wonderful soap, loofah, super clean, lots of high quality towels, I dint use them all, space to sit read or work in seperate lounge area and huge balcony over looking a wild monsoon coastline. It was divine , magical, excellent food and wine . Amzing gardens and local stone walling and steps overflowing with exotic shrubs.I felt like i was in a Devon country house or a movie. Its rare to find such high quality in this area.

The place has great views, went to its restaurant on the top floor. The view was 100/10. A must visit place if you want to try places other than beach.

It's a very good place to get the taste of heritage and hospitality. The closest one can get to living in a fort jutting into the sea. Small things the property needs to take care of, esp. garbage on the sides of the fort walls, which attracts rodents. Overall, the experience is worth it.

The fort is transformed beautifully into an abode, the restaurant has classic interiors and offers a serene experience, the views are breathtaking. A little tedious to go along with your pets if you're not a resident at the hotel but worth the trip, definitely.

This old fort was converted into a hotel some decades back. It was owned and run by Goa Tourism. Then 11-12 years ago it was leased to a person from Delhi for 30 years, even though the employees met the CM and told him they would run it.What's good - the service. The staff from the reception to the waiters to the guard are very courteous and helpful. And prompt. Order and its there. The food - a long menu and all the items we tried - the soup, mutton curry, malabar parathas, and the ceasar salad - were good. My only suggestion would be to increase the quantities.The room overlooked the estuary of the Tiracol River. It had a little sit-out from where to contemplate the futility of the waves marching to shore, crashing against rocks on the far bank of the river. The room was filled with the incessant sound of the sea. The room was decent-sized while the bathroom was enormous. The a/c was effective, but placed so it blasted the bed.The restaurant similarly overlooked the river. We took a walk to the half-moon beach which wasnt anything to write home about. There were many young men loitering about. We did not feel unsafe in any way, but just saying. The walk is littered with waste, the sad truth of the country.The church in the fort, a quaint old structure, was being renovated so we could not get a peek in.Recommended for 1-2 nights and ask for the rooms overlooking the river/sea. It’s not cheap and the activities are add-ons, which I found were expensive.Suggestions- the pillows were mouldy so need replacing.
