The hotel is beautiful with very pretty and superbly maintained gardens full of interesting birdlife. Interesting journey to get there. And very well located for safaris into the Sundarbans. Big rooms solidly built with good furniture and lovely shady verandas. The downsides.....Rooms let down by cheap bedding and linen, verandas by having no comfortable furniture. Pool area has a lot of broken cheap plastic decking, and the wooden loungers are unusable because there are no cushions available! The bar is as bleak and unwelcoming a space as can be imagined, which is a shame as it is actually very well stocked. Dining Room is like a school cafeteria. On the terrace all the furniture is arranged to look at the blacked out windows of the dining room rather than the beautiful lily ponds if the furniture is turned round. We turned it round.
