Our overnight stay at Hotel Village Walk, Sonamarg was unfortunately one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had.The room was extremely small’so cramped that it was difficult to move around comfortably. One side of the bed was completely blocked against the wall, making it impossible for one person to get in or out of bed easily. The bathroom was also exceptionally small and felt very restrictive.Cleanliness was a major concern. We found hair under the pillow and around the bed, which immediately raised questions about the housekeeping standards. The toiletries provided also had an unpleasant smell, making them unusable. The room’s fan was installed in a corner, away from the bed, so there was very little direct airflow, making the room uncomfortable. The dining experience was equally disappointing. The food did not meet even basic expectations for quality or taste, and we ended up leaving most of our meal.Overall, this was not the level of comfort, cleanliness, or hospitality we expected. Based on our experience, I would rate this property 1 out of 5 stars. If you’re planning a trip to the Kashmir region and are looking for a more comfortable and enjoyable stay, I would recommend considering well-established properties such as Four Points by Sheraton Srinagar, Grand Hyatt Goa (if you’re travelling elsewhere in India), or Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Sonamarg, depending on your itinerary.

The location is perfect in Sonmarg at hill top with excellent view from premium rooms. However based on the tarrif (over 10k during season), the room size is small, washroom is small with small size WC seat and both washbasin and WC seats are tilted (in premium room). There must be a hair dryer, makeup / shaving magnifying mirror in the washroom. There is no fan in the room, so on a hot day, it may be bit challenging to stay in the rooms.Dinner was good. The breakfast was below average with very limited options and no taste at all. The poha was hard, the bread was only white (no brown or multigrain option), in the name of fruit only bananas cut in pieces, who will eat a banana already cut in pieces. This is you expect on a budget hotel not in a 10k property.Management must look into the value given to customer while they are charging a good money for stay.

I have stayed in hotel village walk from Feb 6-8th'26.Pros first- located in an exceptionally good elevation from where all the glaciers are visible and no other hotel is blocking the view.- First ray of sunlight hit the window- Rooms are insulated [with metal fitted heater]- Bathrooms are insulated- The room we took is suite room with Jacuzzi, wonderful view of the glacier while enjoying a bath.- We got 24*7 hot water- friendly stuff and the ownerCons- It it located in an elevation so you'll have to climb 100m to reach the gate. I took Mom, she already had an asthma attack while climbing in sub 0 and in that slippery black ice zone- I slipped and fallen twice in the slippery frontyard ’?- We have taken a suite room, but it's not that big. We have been charged 40k for 2 days (20k each day) but comparatively the room size is very small.- The restaurant is outside the hotel premise. That is a problem for elderly people. In sub zero we had to go outside to have food. Though they have arranged in-room service for Mom.- less breakfast option because of lower supply and abundance issueI don't have any complaints as such, we had an wonderful time. You have to be mentally prepared for lesser facilities when a hotel is set up at that height. Rest things are very good.

Frustrating Stay Experience

2.0

Terrible experience at this property. I booked the hotel for 2 nights by walking to the reception directly. I checked in the property and after around 3 hours I got a call from the reception asking when I am checking out tomorrow. A little baffled, I went to the reception to discuss the issue. The person on the front desk did not seem very trained in the hotel industry. I told him to relax, calm down because all this could be a mis communication. But the staff member called me a 'liar' which was extremely rude and disrespectful. I don't expect this from a hotel charging 12k a night which was more than radisson and even Sheraton by the marriot next door. Then the owner intervened who was polite but was absolutely adamant to prove me wrong, so started digging into the cctv footage. They did not show me the footage while I was checking in and clearly said 'two nights'. I think the staff does not understand english well and there could have been a misunderstanding. But he continued calling me a 'liar'. The owner did apologise sarcastically in the end but the staff member who misbehaved did not. At this point I booked 4 points by Sheraton right next to it (which was a far more better hotel at this cost). Also, a big problem in this property is that the owner moves around the property like a warden of a student hostel instructing guests what to do and what not to do which was absolutely crap. At 7:30 pm they started hounding my room phone with calls to order my dinner which was ridiculous as their restaurant shuts down at 9:30 pm during peak season. All other hotels and markets have restaurants open till 11 pm. All the rooms are non smoking without any balcony, so if you have to smoke then you have to go out in the cold. 4 points by sheraton - Marriot, right next to it was 1000 Rs cheaper (11,000 a night) with kitchen open till 11 pm, every room had a balcony, all the staff was highly trained from hotel management institutes. Foreigners or well spoken in english guests should avoid this hotel, as the staff is sub standard. Highly recommend to book Radisson or 4 points in its vicinity. This hotel seems to run more on family packages and the guests are treated like herds of sheep! Pathetic experience, the only bad experience in Kashmir, otherwise all the other Kashmiris I interacted were very respectful people in other hotels I stayed during my holiday.
