Shelter The Homestay

Our stay at Shelter Villa in Mount Abu was wonderful. Everything went beyond what we expected. The rooms were tidy, roomy, cozy, and very well kept. The location is ideal—quiet, picturesque, and perfect for a peaceful retreat while still being close to key sights. What really stood out was the outstanding hospitality. The staff were very courteous, friendly, attentive, and always eager to assist with a smile. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel right at home during our entire stay. I strongly suggest Shelter Villa to anyone visiting Mount Abu. If you want great service, comfortable accommodations, a lovely setting, and sincere hospitality, this is the right place. We will surely return!

We chose this place based on positive feedback, but our stay was not up to expectations. We reserved two rooms: a Super Deluxe AC and a Luxury Deluxe AC. Booking during the last weekend of June likely caused the high prices. While the rooms matched the photos, we felt they weren't worth the cost. Our group included five people and a toddler. We washed some clothes and, lacking drying racks, hung them on the balcony. The manager said washing and drying clothes isn't allowed in any hotel. So, we tried drying them inside with the ceiling fan on when we left, but the manager said fans can't be left running when the room is empty. This is a hotel, not a homestay. We've stayed in many hotels across the country, but this was disappointing. Despite the sign saying "Feel like a home," our experience was the opposite. The property and location are good, but overall, it was unsatisfactory. Booking an Airbnb might be a better choice than staying somewhere that doesn't live up to its own slogan.

The property is definitely peaceful, but my stay was disappointing. Our room was ready when we arrived, but the bathroom was dirty. They told us to wait for the cleaner, who showed up after about 20 minutes. Due to time limits, we had to go sightseeing without freshening up. When we got back, the bathroom tap was broken and leaking, and basic bathroom supplies were missing. The room did not justify the cost, and they also failed to provide simple items like tea or coffee sachets. We planned to leave the next day and requested a taxi for 6:45 PM, but it didn't come until 7:05 PM after several reminders, nearly causing us to miss our bus.

❌Not suitable for families at all. When we arrived about 20 minutes early, our room wasn't ready. We waited until the 12 PM check-in time, but even then, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. We had to wait about 15 minutes to use it. Traveling with five people including a 1.5-year-old, and after a long trip, we had some clothes to wash. We chose not to use laundry service and washed them ourselves, drying on the balcony. The manager told us washing or drying clothes outside was prohibited! While not drying outside is understandable, forbidding washing outside is odd, especially since other hotels we've stayed at recently had no such rules and were pleasant. Their sign says 'Feel like a home,' but it definitely doesn't feel that way.
