The Palace Hotel - BIkaner House

My stay at this hotel was quite disappointing and did not justify the cost. The staff were rude and unprofessional, and the food quality fell short of expectations. Given the room price, the overall experience was unsatisfactory. The service was poor and did not align with what one would expect from a hotel with such rates. Although the hotel is marketed as a heritage property, it lacked the authentic atmosphere and standards typical of a true heritage hotel. Based on my experience, I would not suggest staying here. Improvements are needed in price, service, food quality, and staff behavior.

Had a wonderful time in Mount Abu. The staff were always attentive and welcoming during our visit. The food was particularly impressive, offering tasty choices that suited our preferences. The rooms were cozy, tidy, and provided a peaceful environment. Definitely a great spot for a restful break.

Charming old-world atmosphere with very polite staff and tasty food

Our visit to The Palace Hotel, Bikaner House, Mount Abu was a delightful journey into Rajasthan’s royal history. Built in 1893 as the summer home for the Bikaner royal family during Maharaja Ganga Singh's reign, it was transformed into a hotel in 1962. The property has preserved the charm of a past era with its heritage architecture, period details, and spacious grounds. What sets Bikaner House apart is that it doesn’t feel like a modern hotel simply decorated with heritage elements; the heritage is deeply embedded in the property itself. The architecture, proportions, vintage interiors, and ample spaces reflect the relaxed elegance of a princely summer retreat. It truly feels like stepping back in time while still enjoying the comforts of a modern hotel. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, with generous space reminiscent of an earlier time. The public areas also convey a sense of openness and unhurried sophistication. The hospitality was especially warm. From arrival and reception to dining and departure, the staff were polite, attentive, and sincerely welcoming. Their service was personal yet unobtrusive, which greatly enhances the experience in a heritage setting. The food was enjoyable, featuring well-prepared dishes and a fulfilling dining experience, including the rich culinary traditions of Bikaner and Rajasthan. Perhaps the most striking feature of Bikaner House is the property itself. The extensive, beautifully maintained grounds provide a rare sense of space and grandeur. The large lawns, tranquil greenery, curated pathways, and thoughtfully designed outdoor areas make the property an experience in itself. One can easily spend hours outside enjoying the atmosphere, with staff kindly offering tea, coffee, and snacks outdoors so you don’t have to leave the ambiance. After sunset, the Palace reveals a different charm. The exterior lighting is tastefully done, softly highlighting the historic architecture and grounds without overpowering them. A leisurely nighttime walk with the heritage buildings gently glowing against Mount Abu’s darkness was a highlight of our stay. Though we stayed only one night, it was enough to leave a strong impression that Bikaner House is an ideal spot for a long weekend escape—a delightful retreat into Bikaner’s royal heritage.

Fairly average hotel with average facilities and hospitality. Its fairly clean, shares a good location, but food options are limited. Breakfast buffet is sub par, only 5 6 items in buffet. Chef cooks good rajasthani and north indian dishes, but thats it, you dont everything thats there in the menu. More like a 3 star/deluxe hotel with overpriced rooms. Rooms are spacious, mostly clean but devoid of anything a 5star hotel offers. Even continuous hot water supply is not there. Toiletry dispensers dont work, bathtub was leaking all the time. The best thing is its location and some restaurant staff.
