Important Updates: Steps taken by Indian Railways for travellers

As Indian Railways resumes its services across the country, it has brought several changes to ensure the safety and health of passengers.

From contactless soap dispensers at the stations to delivering essentials, here’s a list of important updates by Railways:


1.  In order to maintain hygiene and sanitation, Indian Railways has installed a touch-free wash basin at Guwahati Railway Station. It’s helping passengers in washing hands without touching the tap or soap dispenser.

2. To fulfil the need of essentials and medical equipment in the country, railways is running 5 extra parcel special trains across Bandra-Ludhiana, Bandra-Okha, Okha-Guwahati, Dewas-Jammu Tawi and Porbandar-Shalimar.


3. Indian Railways’ first COVID-19 Care Centre consisting of 10 modified coaches with 160 beds has been deployed in Delhi. In addition to these 10 non-AC coaches, there’ll be one AC coach for the healthcare staff.

4. In a heart-warming incident, a Railway Protection Force personnel was seen sprinting towards the coach of a moving train to provide milk for an infant at Bhopal Railway Station.

With these initiatives, Indian Railways has been actively participating in the fight against Coronavirus.
