The Indian Railways have decided to launch Utkrisht Double-Decker AC Yatri (Uday) Express in July. This train will be a special class service for overnight journey that will be operational on high-demand routes.
Uday Express will be a 120-seater AC coach equipped with comfortable reclining chairs and huge automatic food and tea/cold drink vending machines for the comfort of the passengers. This service will ply on high-demand routes like Delhi-Lucknow and the fare will be less than that of 3AC class in regular mail or express trains.
This train will have a greater carrying capacity (40 per cent more) than other trains and thus it will be very useful for clearing the rush on high-demand routes. The seats will be comfortable with adequate leg space to relax at night. Also, the interiors of coaches will be exquisitely designed for a contemporary look along with clean bio-toilets.
Uday Express was announced in rail budget 2016-17 and is slated to run at a speed of 110 km per hour on high density routes.

Every coach in the train will have large LCD screens with Wi-Fi speaker system. There will also be a facility for providing pre-cooked hot meals that will be available from the food vending boxes in each coach.
