IRCTC Officials to Be Trained To Provide Airplane-Like Facilities in Trains

In a bid to make the rail journey comfortable and a memorable one, trains will soon provide aeroplane-like facilities.

Officials of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), have been reportedly asked by the Indian Railways to get trained for the same.


The staff will be given behavioural training along with instructions on how to welcome guests.

So far, around 1500 personnel have been trained and further, Indian Railways is planning to train 30,000 personnel by March 2019.

Other Updates:

1. The Mumbai division, which falls under Central Railway zone of Indian Railways, has proposed onboard shopping service for long-distance train passengers, similar to in-flight shopping in planes.


2. As of May 31, 1,36,965 vacuum bio-toilets like those in an aeroplane have been fitted in 37,411 coaches, at a cost of around Rs. 1 lakh per toilet.
