In an attempt to improve the flying experience in India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has finalised a new passenger charter.
According to the charter, from now, travellers can cancel tickets without having to pay any cancellation charges, within 24 hours of the booking. They can also claim for compensations from the airline in case their baggage is lost
This new rule comes with a condition. The airlines can levy cancellation charges if the tickets are booked less than seven days before the scheduled departure time of the flight.
The cancellation fee will be limited to the total of base fare and fuel surcharge. Other components like tax, user development fee, airport development fee and passenger service fee will have to be refunded.
Other than this, passengers can now also make name corrections for free within 24 hours of booking.
