The new terminal building covers an area of 65,155 square meters and can handle up to 4,500 passengers during busy hours. It’s a two-storey building — the ground floor will be for arrivals, and the first floor will be for departures. A walkway will connect it to a multilevel parking building (G+5), which also includes a commercial floor on top.

The terminal building has modern features like 54 check-in counters, five passenger boarding bridges, five luggage conveyor belts, and eight X-ray baggage machines. These will help passengers move quickly through the airport.

Inside, the terminal will showcase beautiful Madhubani paintings and murals that highlight Bihar’s rich culture, including images of Gautam Buddha, the Bodhi tree, Chhath festival, and Patna Sahib Gurdwara. The building’s design is inspired by the square shapes seen in the ruins of Nalanda University.

The multilevel parking area, which can hold 750 cars, will also open along with the terminal.
