PM Modi Flags Off India’s Fifth Vande Bharat Express Train

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flagged off South India’s first Vande Bharat Express at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru. The train departed from platform number 7 of KSR Bengaluru City Station at 10:10 AM amid loud cheers. It will operate between Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru, starting from tomorrow.

Here are the highlights –

1– The train will commence operations from tomorrow, i.e.,12th November 2022.
2– It will run six days a week (except Wednesdays) from both ends.

3– Passengers travelling from Chennai to Mysuru will be charged ₹1,200 for a Chair Car seat and ₹2,295 for a seat in the Executive Class. Those travelling from Mysuru to Chennai will have to pay ₹1,365 and ₹2,486 for these classes, respectively (subject to change).
4– The train will cover the distance of 500 kms in 6 hours, 30 minutes, and will halt at two stops between Chennai and Mysuru: Katpadi and Bengaluru.

5– There are 16 coaches, out of which 14 are Chair Cars and 2 are Executive Chair Cars.
6– It has been developed by Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, and is equipped with an intelligent braking system for better acceleration and deceleration.
7– The train is designed to be convenient for specially-abled passengers.

The Karnataka Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan Train was also flagged off by PM Modi today. The service will run between Bengaluru and Varanasi, and will offer a seven-day tour programme for pilgrims at discounted rates.

In addition, PM Modi has inaugurated Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal 2 and unveiled the 108-feet statue of city founder Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda.

Did you know? The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on February 15, 2019 on the New Delhi–Varanasi route.
