Railways To Run 2,910 Special Trains For Pilgrims In Ujjain

If you are all set to attend the Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain from April 22 till May 21, here’s a piece of news for you. It is learnt that the Railways is running 2,910 Special trains for the entire one month period. Special arrangements have been made for all pilgrims attending the festival. Besides special trains, 195+ coaches have also been provided (daily) on existing passenger trains and mail express.


 

The Railways has also planned 44 trips from nine Zonal Railways for the convenience of pilgrims as told by Mohd Jamshed, Member Traffic, Railway Board.He has also said that on ‘Shahi Snan’ days, special trains would run from Ujjain to Bhopal and Nagda, every half an hour. 12 car DEMU and 24 coach Mela specials are running between Ujjain and Bhopal to manage the heavy rush during the mela period.  Additionally, 12 car MEMU rakes (Ujjain section) and 18-20 coach convention rakes with AC locomotives are running between Vikramnagar and Indore.


 

While a total of 78 services have been planned from these rakes on regular days of the mela, “Maha Shahi Snan” day would observe the extension of maximum of 150 services. Besides water storage capacity, 119 CCTV cameras have been installed for the safety of passengers.
