Earlier this week, Indian Railways launched this number for the WhatsApp food ordering feature: 87500001323. The service will be implemented in two phases.

  • In the first phase, the number will send a message to travellers after they book their train tickets. Through the message, rail passengers will be able to opt for e-catering services, if they wish to.
  • This will allow customers to choose the meals of their choice from a number of available restaurants while they are inside the train.
  • In the second phase, the WhatsApp number will be powered with artificial intelligence to handle the users’ e-catering-related questions in the form of a chatbot.
  • The interactive bot will also book meals for travellers in addition to resolving their queries.

As of now, this feature has been implemented in select trains. Based on the feedback shared by customers, it will be expanded to more trains in the future.
