New Delhi–Mumbai Rajdhani Express Gets a ‘Smart’ New Upgrade

Passengers will be pleased to know that train number 02951/02952 New Delhi–Mumbai–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, one of the most prestigious trains run by the Indian Railways, has been given a new upgrade that’s bound to make journeys on this train even more pleasant and enjoyable.

The coaches of this particular Rajdhani Express are being replaced with ‘smart’ sleeper coaches, with features similar to those currently seen in the IRCTC Tejas Express trains.

What’s special about these coaches?

Some noteworthy features of these ‘smart’ coaches include:

> A Passenger Information System (PIS) in the form of two LCD screens inside each coach, to display all necessary, journey-related information.

> Automatic plug doors, meaning that the train will not start unless all the doors are closed.

> Seats and berths with fire resistant silicone foam to ensure passenger comfort and safety.

> Roller blinds for windows instead of curtains, for easy sanitization.

> Individual mobile charging points for passengers.

> Individual berth reading lights for passengers.

Six CCTV cameras with features such as face recognition, live recording and night vision.

> All main entrance doors centrally controlled by guards.

> Automatic fire alarm and detection system.

> State-of-the-art bio-toilets for better hygiene.

> Panic button in lavatories and a talk-back feature in coaches in case of any emergency.

It may be worthy to note that the national transporter aims to gradually modify several other premium trains and replace them with these smart coaches.

New Delhi–Lucknow Tejas Express to resume operations

Meanwhile, the North Eastern Railway zone has announced that train number 82501/82502 Lucknow Jn.–New Delhi–Lucknow Jn. Tejas Express is all set to resume operations from August 7, 2021


The premium train will operate
four days a week, that is, on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Booking is now open on ixigo, and if you’re buying train tickets on ixigo for the first time, you can avail the Pay ₹0 Payment Gateway Fees.
