Search TrainsThis special train, named Sachkhand Express (12715), operates between Nanded in Maharashtra and Amritsar in Punjab, covering a distance of around 2,000 km.
Over the past 29 years, this train has been serving complimentary food to its passengers.
The train stops at 39 stations during the 33-hour-long journey, with langar (community meals) mainly served at stops like New Delhi, Bhopal, Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad, and Marathwada.
The meals usually include kadhi-chawal, chole, dal, khichdi, and aloo-patta gobhi or other seasonal vegetables. They’re freshly prepared at nearby Gurudwaras and brought on board by volunteers, not cooked in railway kitchens. All meals are free, supported by donations made to the Gurudwaras.
Passengers from all classes, including AC coaches, are encouraged to carry their utensils. This helps maintain hygiene and ensures the smooth functioning of the voluntary service.
