Services of Gatimaan Express Extended Till Jhansi

The services of India’s first semi-high speed train, Gatimaan Express have been extended by Indian Railways. Starting April 1st 2018, train number 12049/50 is serving the cities of Gwalior and Jhansi too. Gatimaan Express is now covering a distance of 402 km in 4 hours and 10 minutes, reaching Jhansi station at 12:35 PM.

Here is the Catch:

Gatimaan Express made its maiden journey in April 2016. It runs at the maximum speed of 160 kmph. However, the stretch after Agra Cantt will allow Gatimaan Express to ply at a speed of 130 kmph.

Train No 12050 (Nizamuddin-Gwalior Gatimaan Exp)

Departure from Nizamuddin– 08:10 AM
Agra Cantt Arrival — 09:50 to 09:55 AM
Arrival at Gwalior– 11:25 AM
Arrival at Jhansi — 12:35 PM

Train No 12049 Gwalior-Nizamuddin Gatimaan Exp

Departure from Jhansi — 03:05 PM
Arrival at Gwalior —  04:15 PM
Arrival at Agra Cantt — 05:45 PM
Arrival at Nizamuddin —  07:30 PM


Things you must know about Gatimaan Express

  1. The train is operational six days a week except for Friday.
  2. The move is taken to boost tourism in the regions of Gwalior and Jhansi.
  3. Earlier, the train ran between Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin and Agra Cantt stations.
  4. Coaches in this train are facilitated with features like bio-toilets and balanced draft gear couplers for a smooth ride.
