Several states extend lockdown and curfews; new guidelines issued!

Amid rising coronavirus cases, several states across the country have decided to extend lockdown and curfews.

States including Bihar, Assam, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh have issued fresh guidelines to prevent the transmission of the deadly virus.

The Bihar government has extended the statewide lockdown until 15th May. All the government offices will remain closed and only the essential services like police stations, fire brigade offices, etc. will remain operational. Hospitals, pharmacies, labs, nursing homes, and other institutes related to the health sector will be operational. You can travel to the railway stations/airports by carrying a valid ticket.

The government of
Assam issued a revised directive which has come into force this morning and will remain effective until further orders.

According to the new orders, if the test positivity reaches more than 10% or the bed occupancy crosses 60% in a large geographical area, then that area might be decided as a ‘Containment Zone’. No meetings/gatherings are allowed in any open/closed space. All the commercial shops shall shut down by 2:00 pm. Pharmacies, hospitals, animal care centres will remain operational. There will be a total ban on movement of people from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am daily except for government officials, patients, medical staff. People can travel to the railway stations/airports by carrying a valid ticket.

Jammu & Kashmir has decided to extend Corona Curfew in 4 districts of Jammu, Srinagar, Budgam & Baramulla till 7 am, May 10, 2021. Curfew will also be imposed in the Samba district from 7 pm, May 05 to 7 am, May 10.

Given the current COVID-19 situation in the country, the government of Goa has decided to continue the lockdown. It has come into force since yesterday morning 5 am and will remain effective until 7 am on 10th May. All the casinos, bars, restaurants will remain closed. Any kind of social, political, cultural activities are prohibited except for marriages with 50 or less people with the permission.

In order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, Odisha has issued protocols and guidelines that need to be observed. Anyone coming from Andhra Pradesh/Telangana to Odisha via personal vehicles/trains must undergo mandatory institutional quarantine for 14 days. People travelling from Andhra Pradesh/Telangana to other states through Odisha shall be allowed without disembarking from the vehicle. Any person who has a negative COVID report within 48 hours before entering Odisha may be allowed home quarantine for 7 days.

In Gujarat,  cinema theatres, auditoriums, assembly halls, water parks, public gardens, salons, gyms, swimming pools and other recreational areas will be closed. During this period, a maximum of 20 persons in open or closed places for marriage will be allowed. Public bus transport will continue at a maximum of 50% passenger capacity.

With increasing positive cases of COVID-19, the government of Sikkim has issued a fresh order. According to the order, all the persons residing or entering the containment zone must wear a face mask. Any assembly of 5 or more people must be prohibited within the containment area. This order has already come into force and will remain effective until further notice. 

After reviewing the COVID-19 situation, the state cabinet of Himachal Pradesh issued new rules for the state. As per the new guidelines, all the government and private offices/ establishments would remain closed from 7 May 2021 to midnight of 16 May 2021. It was also decided that all essential services such as health, electricity, telecommunication, water supply, sanitation, etc. would remain open. All government and private transport would ply at 50 percent of occupancy and inter-state transport would continue.

To safeguard the state from the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, particularly in East Khasi Hills district, the government of Meghalaya has a fresh order to implement. Lockdown has been enforced in the East Khasi Hills district and will remain effective until 5:00 am of 10th May. Inter-district movement to and from East Khasi Hills district shall be restricted. Banks, bars, restaurants shall remain closed.
