The new guidelines have been issued keeping the high vaccination rate of the state in mind, and also to boost travel and tourism in the region, which has taken a hit due to the pandemic.

Here are the details:

In an order dated September 24, the Sikkim Government had announced that all travellers vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or carrying a negative RT-PCR report issued within 72 hours will be permitted to enter the state. However, there shall be no checking at any of the check posts.

The order further clarified that the documents required for entry would be verified by the concerned hotels where such tourists might be staying:

One of the most popular destinations in the country, there has been a steady increase in the number of tourists to Sikkim post the pandemic, thanks to its lush natural beauty. Tourism is one the primary contributors to the economy of Sikkim, and lockdown has been especially hard on the state.
