Tejas trains to be 20% costlier than Shatabdi Express

If you thought travelling by Tejas trains would be a great option, you might just want to revisit your thought. This is because passengers will now have to pay 20 to 30 percent more than the existing fares of the premier Shatabdi Express.

These trains will run at a speed of 130 km/hr and have services like LCD screens on ergonomically seats, Wi-Fi facility, and calling cell buttons to call coach attendants whenever required.

Besides choicest cuisine, passengers would be able to make use of sensorised taps and hand driers, snack tables, tea and coffee vending machines, and bio-vacuum toilets. Additionally, the coaches will be equipped with fire and smoke detection and suppression system, and CCTVs.

The coaches of Tejas will be well-equipped with 22 new features including LED boards (communicating safety instructions) and entertainment screens for passengers along with a headphone socket ensuring passengers are provided with a world-class travel experience.

As per a senior official of the Ministry of Railways, Tejas trains will boast of modern facilities, some of which would be new for the Indian Railways. And since, the service will be of the high quality, the fare of the train will have to be more than the existing structure.

He further added that the decision to quantify has not been taken yet, but it would be 20 to 30 percent higher than the fare of Shatabdi Express.

Tejas coaches will be painted golden (meaning brilliance) and have Executive Class and Chair Cars. The trains will likely be introduced on the Delhi-Lucknow route for a day-long journey.
