The first prototype of the Vande Metro will be rolled out from the ICF very soon in early 2024. Like Vande Bharat, Vande Metro trains will also be fully air-conditioned and are being designed to run at a maximum speed of 130 kmph with facilities like automatic doors, CCTV, better toilets, and infotainment.

Primarily designed for intercity short-distance commuter travel, the Vande Metro will have double-leaf doors for easy boarding and deboarding.

It will have the capacity of a maximum of 100 passengers on the seats and 200 standees in one bogie.
