India’s First Cable-Stayed Rail Bridge on Anji River is Almost Ready!

Despite the challenging geographical conditions in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Railways has achieved a remarkable feat by completing the installation of all 96 cables for the Anji Khad bridge in a record time of 11 months.

According to railway officials, the total weight of the cable used in the bridge is around 848 metric tonnes and the length of the cable strands involved is 653 km.


The speed of trains will be 100 kmph on this bridge which is the speed for the entire project. However, the trains will be stopped if the wind speed goes beyond 90 kmph.

The bridge is constructed in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir under the most challenging Udampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project of Indian Railways.
