Let’s take a look at some of the most stunning railway stations in our country. 

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Maharashtra 

Popularly known as CSMT, this train station is a historic terminal station and a UNESCO world heritage site. The terminus building was designed by Frederick William Stevens, a British born architectural engineer.

Lucknow Charbagh Station, Uttar Pradesh 

Depicting the Mughal Architecture, the Charbagh Railway Station is one of the most aesthetically designed stations in India. The station was built in 1914. The structure is truly spectacular with brilliant exteriors and gardens in the front.

Howrah Railway Station, West Bengal 

Howrah Junction is one of the oldest and busiest railway stations in India. This station too is a historical building and truly a photographer’s delight. See the images below:

Kanpur Central, Uttar Pradesh 

Inspired by Lucknow’s Char Bagh station, the Kanpur station depicts the Mughal-Awadh style of architecture beautifully.


Chennai Central, Tamil Nadu 

The building of the Chennai Central terminal is at least a century old and was designed by architect George Harding. It is one of the most prominent landmarks of the city. Here is a stunning picture of the station:
