Camelot Resort-A Boutique Escape in the Munnar Hills

We had lunch service provided by Aswath Sago.

Camelot Resort in Munnar is truly a paradise for those seeking tranquility. If your goal is to explore Munnar's sights, this might not be the place for you, as the resort's location itself offers a unique experience that makes leaving unnecessary. Situated within Letchmi Estate, about 12–13 km from Munnar town, the resort is a peaceful haven free from city noise. Note that only BSNL SIMs work here, though Wi-Fi is provided. The access road is narrow and rough, with a steep 1.5 km climb at the end, but capable drivers can manage it easily. The owner, Mr. Dileep, welcomed us personally and assisted with the drive. Spread over 15 acres, the resort boasts its own tea plantation, cardamom, and orange trees. Amenities include a well-kept pool with scenic views, an adventure zone (staff available on request), a nature walk lasting about 1.5 hours included in the stay, indoor games, books, and campfires on demand. There are 12 rooms in three categories, all with beautiful views; we stayed in a spacious Super Luxury room with a clean bathroom and 24-hour hot water. The on-site Nilavu Restaurant serves excellent Kerala cuisine with a Kottayam influence, and the barbecue is tasty. Chinese dishes could be improved slightly. The owners, Mr. Dileep and Mrs. Simi, live on-site and their warm hospitality made us feel like visiting family rather than guests. The resort's highlight is its four friendly Labrador dogs—Camy, Roxy, Oscar, and Elda—who are playful companions during walks and around the property. Plans exist to expand the resort, but the current size preserves its peaceful charm, which we greatly appreciated during our stay when we had the place mostly to ourselves. Overall, Camelot Resort offers one of the best peaceful and immersive experiences in Munnar. We wish the owners all the best and thank them sincerely for their hospitality.

The food was delicious but veg food variety of options are less. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared.Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay in Munnar for anyone looking to enjoy nature, comfort, and great food. I would gladly visit again and highly recommend it to fellow travelers

My time in Munnar was unforgettable, and this resort added to the charm of the trip. The spot provides stunning views of the hills and valleys around, creating a calm and refreshing atmosphere throughout. I suggest arriving before sunset to fully appreciate the beautiful evening views. Taking a morning walk or trek around the area is essential. The crisp mountain air, lovely scenery, and peaceful environment offer a memorable experience. The hospitality was top-notch, and the breakfast was especially noteworthy. The food was tasty, though the variety of vegetarian options was limited. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and carefully made. In summary, this is an excellent place to stay in Munnar for those who want to enjoy nature, comfort, and good food. I would happily return and strongly recommend it to other travelers.

Pros:1) The views are absolutely stunning.2) The manager is polite and courteous.Cons:1) The stay is not worth the price paid’it's quite expensive, and better options are available at similar rates.2) The location is very remote; it’s advisable to arrive only during daytime.3) There is no mobile network. The hotel landline was also not working, so communication depended entirely on WiFi. Since different areas of the resort have separate WiFi access points, it was quite inconvenient. Staff communicated mainly via WhatsApp, which wasn’t always practical.4) Services are very slow due to limited staff.5) Toiletries provided are minimal. Our Experience:1) Despite informing them in advance about our arrival and occasion, no proper candlelight dinner arrangement or decorations were prepared, and food was served very late.2) Our room was upgraded from Super Luxury to Premium, but the upgrade did not add any real value. The room had no AC, the fan was not working, and overall it felt very congested.3) They charged ’2000 for a candlelight setup, but only provided a few rose petals, some flowers, 4’5 cheap candles, and balloons.4) The booking was for three people, but toiletries (like toothbrush and soap) were provided for only one person.5) The food menu was extremely limited and remained the same the next day, with no additional choices.6) They charged over ’500 for approximately 80 ml of simple homemade wine, which felt overpriced.7) Vegetarian options were very limited:-Only one soup option-Only 2’3 vegetable dishes-Only 2’3 starter options
