Hotel Shiva Sanctuary by DLS Hotels

Being from the UK, I’m quite reluctant when looking for hotels abroad. However, the hotel was outstanding, next to Dal Lake, and foreigner friendly. I felt comfortable and secure. The 3rd floor room, they assigned me, had a nice balcony and overlooked the McLeod Ganj valley - it was so beautiful sitting there and absorbing the spectacular view and Sun! I enjoyed staying at the hotel so much that Ii rebooked it for some extra nights. They shifted me to the 1st floor as another Customer had booked before I had asked for the room booking to be extended. The room was the same but on the 1st floor, however, it was equally as good. The rooms were super clean, came with various facilities, and were economically priced. All the staff were exceptional , friendly, polite, honest and catered to my every need. The managers, Rajwinder and Abdul, in particular, provided a brilliant outstanding customer service overall. They had a good comprehension of the English language too. I was helped to organise my tour and was even put in contact with a young fair-priced trustworthy driver.All the food was outstanding - very tasty, my very best was the Kadai Paneer with Lacha Parathas - amazing ’’If I’m ever back in the area again, I’m sure I’ll approach the hotel again without hesitation. I fully recommend this hotel to all fellow travellers.

After an exhausting 8-hour journey, arriving late at night in a 10-degree chill, we expected comfort. We had secured a premium room with a full meal plan in advance. Imagine our shock when the management demanded an extra ’500 for a heater! There were zero proper instructions or warnings about this hidden charge during the booking process. This blatant oversight is simply unacceptable, especially in such cold weather. While the staff itself wasn't the core issue, this policy is terrible. Moving to the dining experience, the food served was quite honestly below average. The quality did not align with the promised standard. The hotel boldly advertises itself as a "four-star" establishment. In reality, the service and amenities feel closer to a disappointing two-star rating. On a minimal positive note, the rooms were clean, a single redeeming quality. Beyond the cleanliness of the room, everything else about our stay was worst. Future travelers, please do consider any other hotel in the area. Save yourselves the money and the massive frustration. Do not book here.

Location is bit far from Maclodganj market its around 3-4 km however hotel service is good. Rooms are specious. Food quality is average and BF spread is very limited.

We stayed at Shiva Sanctuary by DLS hotels during our family trip and had a wonderful experience! The rooms were clean and offered a very nice view. The staff was friendly and made our stay comfortable. They even prepared delicious Jain food on request, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful and pleasant stay!

Had a recent stay with my husband. Rooms are spacious and neat. Balcony view and the sunshine adds up to the beauty. Staff was really helpful while we were stuck during the festive season. Must stay here!!
