Our time at Orange Valley Plantation in Coorg was amazing! The location in a coffee plantation offered breathtaking valley views and misty mornings. The food was fresh, homely, and full of genuine Coorg tastes (we chose the all meals included plan, which was wonderful). The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home. The rooms were cozy and very clean. It's an ideal place to disconnect and enjoy nature—definitely recommend it.

🌿 Orange Valley Plantation Resort, Kodagu — A Stunning Property That Requires Improved Upkeep Location: ⭐ 5/5 The location is definitely the standout feature of this resort. Set amidst thick coffee plantations and forest, slightly elevated and surrounded by large, beautiful trees, pepper vines, and coffee plants, the environment is incredibly tranquil and immersive. You can truly hear the sounds of insects and nature around you, making it feel like a genuine retreat into the Western Ghats. 🌿☕️ Keep in mind that the property is quite distant from Madikeri/central Coorg. It takes about 1.5 hours to get to Madikeri, so it suits those seeking a quiet, secluded stay rather than a base for exploring Coorg. Food: ⭐ 4/5 The food was good — fresh, simple, and very homely. It had that comforting, home-cooked feel rather than typical resort cuisine. However, you need to notify the resort in advance if you want meals prepared by their kitchen, so don't expect to order spontaneously whenever you want. Rooms & Resort: ⭐ 2.5–3/5 The property itself is quite grand. It's a large white European-style building that looks beautiful and impressive from outside, and you can tell it must have been a gorgeous place in its prime. Sadly, the maintenance doesn't quite live up to the property's potential. The resort feels like a place that isn't used or maintained as regularly as it should be. While the rooms seem reasonably clean at first glance, several issues become apparent on closer inspection. For instance, the aquarium had several dead fish floating on the surface, seemingly there for some time. There were also birds' nests inside some lamp holders, suggesting these areas haven't been checked or cleaned recently. The room had a closed-up, musty odor along with a strong chemical/cleaning-liquid smell reminiscent of pesticide. The rooms lack good ventilation, making the smell more noticeable. The swimming pool was another letdown. The water didn't look very clear and appeared somewhat dusty/cloudy, so we felt uncomfortable using it. There were also basic maintenance problems — the shower knob was broken, and although the towels were clean, they had a strange smell. We also encountered several electricity issues during our stay, including voltage fluctuations, which was inconvenient. Overall, this is where the resort loses points. It's not that the property is bad — quite the opposite. It has tremendous potential but needs more consistent upkeep, ventilation, and attention to cleanliness and maintenance. Staff: ⭐ 5/5 The staff were genuinely lovely. Everyone we met was kind, courteous, helpful, and always ready to assist. They were probably one of the best parts of our stay and made us feel welcome despite some property issues. Value for Money: ⭐ 4/5 Considering the location, peaceful surroundings, and overall experience, I would say it's still reasonably good value for money, especially if you're seeking a secluded plantation stay away from crowds. Overall: ⭐ 3.5/5 In summary, Orange Valley Plantation Resort is a decent and peaceful property in a truly beautiful setting. I would have loved this place more if a bit more care had been given to cleanliness, ventilation, and regular maintenance. The setting is gorgeous, the staff wonderful, and the food fresh and homely — but the condition of some parts of the property detracts from what could otherwise be a truly special plantation stay. The main takeaway: beautiful location + wonderful staff + great potential, but the property needs serious TLC. 🌿☕️
