RED RIVER RETREAT

We stayed in the presidential suite, which was roomy, tidy, and had a classic feel with high-end fixtures. The location was very convenient, close to the main highway and offering various dining choices if you want to explore different foods. The highlight was their service—they provided a crib for our 5-month-old baby. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

We came to Red River Retreat, Kaziranga with high hopes, especially given the high price they charge. Sadly, our experience was disappointing right from the start. At lunch, my husband ordered pork with bamboo shoot, but the dish was awful—mostly deep-fried pork with hardly any bamboo shoots. When we complained, the manager promised a fresh dish, but they just served the same deep-fried pork with a few bamboo shoots added. They said it wouldn't be charged, but no real fix was made. Another serious issue was safety: the pool was open until 8 PM but poorly lit. There is a big gap between the pool and wooden deck, and in the dark, I stepped into it, hurt my leg, and fell into the pool. Luckily, my injuries were minor, but it could have been worse for a child or elderly person. This hazard needs urgent attention. Upon arrival, we told the front desk we had to leave after one night instead of two due to a family emergency. Instead of understanding, the staff insisted we pay for the second night as per policy. While policies matter, hospitality should allow for compassion in special cases. Also, we were charged ₹799 for our second child but no extra bed was given. When we asked for one, they said it would cost an extra ₹2,000. Charging for a guest without providing a bed felt unfair. Hospitality is more than nice rooms and views—it’s about guest experience, safety, service, and empathy. Small acts and quick solutions make a lasting impact. Unfortunately, Red River Retreat missed the mark on all these. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves for future visitors.

The food was incredibly tasty! Each meal was fresh, full of flavor, and cooked just right. Certainly a place to return to. Especially, Chayanika provided outstanding service. She was courteous, attentive, and ensured we enjoyed our dining experience.

Great experience, but the price is a concern. It doesn't seem reasonable. 🙏
