I went to Seagate Hotel in Velankanni on 20.03.2026. I had booked a deluxe room through the Agoda app. However, when I arrived, the receptionist told me that no rooms were available. I was surprised because I had already booked the room through Agoda.They said they had sent me an email that morning and claimed that I didn’t reply. Actually, I arrived early in the morning and didn’t see the email while traveling. The receptionist said there was no room because I hadn’t replied to their message. Their behavior was also very rude. At first, they told me to leave, but after 5 minutes, they asked me to wait and then said they would give me a room.Overall, it was a very bad experience. I do not recommend this poor Seagate Hotel in Velankanni.

During our recent visit to India, we travelled to Velankanni on a pilgrimage and carefully reviewed several hotel websites in search of a comfortable place to stay for a night. Despite knowing that online photos can sometimes be misleading, we decided to book a stay at Sea Gate Church View Resort in Velankanni.After a long and rather intense three-hour taxi ride from Trichy Airport, we arrived around 4 p.m., hoping to finally relax. Unfortunately, the experience that followed was deeply disappointing.The term ’resort’ is, quite frankly, a significant overstatement. While Raj at the reception was pleasant and appeared to be a sincere and hardworking individual, the condition of the rooms was bordering a health hazard.There was virtually nothing about the room that met even basic expectations. The towels were old and discoloured. The mattresses were uneven with noticeable bumps where previous guests had slept. The bathroom had a large bucket in place of a functioning shower, and the AC unit was barely operational. The AC fan dragged noisily throughout the night. To make matters worse, there was a persistent unpleasant odour from the bathroom drains.Cleanliness was another serious concern. Hair from previous guests was visible around the room, particularly under the bed. The windows posed a clear safety risk, especially for families with children, as none of them had working latches and could not be properly secured.Overall, this was an extremely disappointing stay, and unfortunately, not a place we would consider returning to.

We stayed at Seagate Resort in a 2-bed bungalow with our family (5 adults, 2 kids, and 1 infant), and it was a very good experience overall.The stay was comfortable, peaceful, and felt very homely. The location is a big advantage ’ very close to the church, especially near Morning Star Church, which made our visit very convenient.The resort has a swimming pool, and we really enjoyed spending time there. Though the price felt a little high at first, it was definitely worth the money when considering the facilities, safety, peaceful atmosphere, and prime location.Check-in was very quick ’ since we pre-booked a week earlier, it took only about 5 minutes. Overall, this place is very suitable for families who prefer a safe, comfortable, and quality stay rather than cheaper local options.Highly recommended for family trips ’?
