One of the most special hotel experiences we had in India. From the moment we entered The Himalayan, it felt like stepping into another world – almost like old England or a 16th-century castle. The inner garden with roses and birds, the stone walls and winding staircases all create a very unusual atmosphere.Our room was extremely cosy and comfortable, with antique-style furniture and lots of small architectural details. The dining room and lounge reminded me of some of the old colleges in Oxford I have visited. There is also a great little library and a tower called the Crow's Nest, where you can go up for the view.The staff were wonderful – warm, helpful and always trying to assist. We also sent some laundry and it came back perfectly clean and smelling great. We had a chance to speak with the owner, a real Anglophile, who told us that creating a hotel like this had been his dream. You can really feel that the place was built with a lot of passion.We came here after our trek to relax and celebrate our engagement, and it was exactly the experience we wanted. Peaceful, beautiful, full of character and completely different from a standard hotel. We would happily stay here again.
Best place to stay near Manali Mall Road. Park your vehicle and take a tuk tuk or go by foot to mall road. Nice italian restaurant in the vicinity. Only thing I want to be improved is the fragrance . It lacks that beautiful luxurious hotel fragrance. Even the bedding doesn’t smell good. Washrooms doesn’t have exhaust.
The hotel itself is nice, but the food quality is very poor. It has a somewhat classic atmosphere and is conveniently located near Hidimba Temple, which is within walking distance. However, having your own vehicle or renting one is advisable for getting around. Mall Road is about 2 km downhill. We intended to relax but had to go out to find decent food. Breakfast was acceptable, but the other meals were disappointing. Whether Indian or continental, the food could make you dislike any cuisine. Overall, I felt a bit let down.
