The Tattva

The location is stunning. The rooms offer great comfort. You can spend the entire day there without any regrets, and you won’t feel the need to leave Tattva.

We stayed at The Tattva , Joshimath for 1 night on our way to Badarinath and my overall experience was a mixed one. We were 3 people with a 74 year old senior citizen , no kids and we visited in the end of April 2026.Here is my detailed review based on my experience:-’Check in process- We had a late check in and the process was very smooth & quick. The staff was very helpful & prompt in bringing all our luggage all the way down to the lowest level where our assigned room was. The check out next day early morning was equally prompt.’Rooms:- Here I was quite disappointed. After making the booking & even a day before reaching, I had pointedly told the hotel that I want our room at a level with least stairs since I am travelling with a senior citizen. However upon arrival , we were told that the hotel is fully booked and the only available room is the one at the bottom- most level. Since there is no elevator on the property , one had to climb around 4-5 full sets of stairs to reach the said room. Since we were out of option , we somehow managed but if you have anyone with mobility issues, this hotel may not be a good choice.The room itself was pretty small and had a tin roof reminding me of the driver quarters of government bungalow ’? in fact we didn't even have space to walk around if we kept our suitcase on the floor. ’?The room , the bed linens, the bathroom and the towels were very neat and clean.They had electric kettle, the gyser in the bathroom worked and they were very prompt to attend you whenever you called the room service.Now the problematic part of the room- they had a room heater but it was connected to the bathroom light and exhaust ( in a series i think) and the flimsy bathroom door won't close fully from outside. So at night when it started to get chilly and we switched on the room heater, the glaring bathroom light will fall directly on our faces ’? . After debating for a while between picking a warmer room or a light free one, we finally chose warmth. May be we were just unlucky with ours and not all rooms were so pathetic but it was my own experience.’Food- we only had dinner at the hotel and it was quite average. Nothing exceptional.They also serve alcohol as I could see. We didn't stay for the complimentary breakfast the next day.’Accessibility & parking- Ample parking space and easy Accessibility from the road. No issue in that department. But in case you have anyone with mobility issues, this hotel may not be suitable as the rooms are spread on 3- 4 levels. There is no lift and the stairs have a sharp incline. The view from the parking is lovely and you can see the omkareshwar temple from here, even here the arati there ’?’ Staff behaviour & hygiene- full points on this one. The staff is very helpful and prompt in fulfilling your requests. The housekeeping staff was so prompt in bringing up whatever we needed that it never made me call twice on the reception! The whole property is very scenic and clean. The rooms, the beddings, the bathroom etc is all very neat and clean.’ Wi fi & mobile signal - I could get a decent signal on my airel but the WiFi was a bit weak. Though I am sure it depends on the roomI do hope they can do something about the room accessibility issue specially for senior citizens or people with knee issues and also about their bathroom electric connection ’?

We had an amazing stay at The Tattva, Joshimath. The hospitality was truly exceptional, and every member of the staff was polite, humble, and always ready to help.A special thanks to Mr. Sanjay Negi from the restaurant. Since we were observing a vrat (fast), he went out of his way to arrange special food for us. His kindness, care, and attention to detail made us feel genuinely valued.The rooms, food, service, and overall experience were excellent. We highly recommend The Tattva to anyone visiting Joshimath. We stayed at The Tattva, Joshimath for one night while heading to Badarinath, and my overall experience was mixed. We were a group of three, including a 74-year-old senior citizen, and visited at the end of April 2026. Here's a detailed account of our stay: The check-in was late but very smooth and quick, with helpful staff who promptly carried our luggage down to the lowest level where our room was located. Checkout the next morning was also efficient. However, I was disappointed with the room. Despite requesting a room with minimal stairs due to traveling with a senior, we were assigned a room on the bottom-most level after being told the hotel was fully booked. Without an elevator, we had to climb 4-5 sets of stairs to reach it. The room was small with a tin roof, reminiscent of government bungalow driver quarters, and barely enough space to move around with our suitcase on the floor. On the plus side, the room, bed linens, bathroom, and towels were very clean. They provided an electric kettle, the bathroom geyser worked well, and room service was prompt. A problem was the room heater, which was connected to the bathroom light and exhaust, and the flimsy bathroom door didn't close fully, so at night the bright bathroom light shone directly on us when the heater was on. We chose warmth over darkness after some debate. Food was average; we only had dinner and didn't try the complimentary breakfast. The hotel has ample parking and is easily accessible from the road, but the steep stairs and lack of elevator make it unsuitable for those with mobility issues. The view from the parking area is lovely, with a sight of the Omkareshwar temple and its arati. Staff behavior and hygiene were excellent; the staff was very helpful and quick to respond, and the property was clean and scenic. WiFi was weak, though mobile signal was decent on Airtel, possibly varying by room. I hope the hotel can improve room accessibility for seniors or those with knee problems and address the bathroom electrical setup.

Our stay at The Tattva, Joshimath was wonderful. The hospitality stood out, with every staff member being courteous, modest, and always willing to assist. We especially appreciate Mr. Sanjay Negi from the restaurant who, knowing we were fasting, thoughtfully arranged special meals for us. His kindness and attention made us feel truly appreciated. The rooms, cuisine, service, and overall experience were top-notch. We strongly suggest The Tattva to anyone traveling to Joshimath.
