The discontinuation of these trains caused a lot of inconvenience for passengers on both sides of the Indo-Bangla border.

For Dhaka–Kolkata Maitree Express and Kolkata–Khulna Bandhan Express, both Indian Railways and Bangladesh Railways provide one rake each for the service. For Mitali Express, which was inaugurated by both the Prime Ministers, the rake is provided solely by the Indian Railways.
