Indian Railways’ gift to passengers: South India to have a station named ‘Malgudi’

Based on R.K. Narayan’s book, ‘Malgudi Days’ was a popular show in the 90s amongst everyone. Most of us must have dreamt of visiting Malgudi to meet Swamy, at least once.

Indian Railways has now made that dream reach reality. Railways has decided to rename the Arasalu railway station to Malgudi railway station, which is on the Shivamogga-Talaguppa railway line in Karnataka.

Arasalu is where Malgudi Days series was filmed. It is 34 km away from Shivamogga station and is located in Hosanagara taluk.

Arasalu railway station will also have a restoration project with the South Western Railway investing an estimated cost of Rs 1.3 crore into its development.
