New Delhi Railway Station to Be Revamped: Here Is How It Will Look Like

Here is some exciting news for travellers!

The New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) is all set to get a swanky new look as the proposal for its revamp has been approved. The station will be rebuilt as per a plan of Rs. 4,700 crore, which will be funded purely by the government.

The new station will also integrate train services with buses, autos and metro rail services.

Here are the highlights of the plan –

1– The main station complex will include two signature domes of six floors each.
2– The terminal buildings will have an iconic dome shape with two arrival and two departure points at the concourse level. The height of the domes will be 80 metres and 60 metres, respectively, from the ground.
3– There will be separate areas for arrival and departure, retail spaces and utility services spread across over 2.2 lakh square metres of floor space.
4– There will be no foot overbridges.
5– The new station will have two skywalks that will connect the Multi-Modal Transport Hub to the station building.

6– The structure will have 86 lifts and 67 escalators.
7– Solar panels will also be installed.
8– In addition, the structure will have facilities for rainwater harvesting, wastewater or stormwater reuse, and solid waste management with proper on-site segregation.
9– Fire fighting arrangements and emergency power backup will be provided.

As per the following tweet by the Ministry of Railways, the New Delhi Railway Station will turn out to be an architectural marvel and offer high-end facilities to all the travellers.
