Railways to Upgrade Security Measures Across Platforms; Here are the Top Features

To ensure passenger safety, Railways is providing Videos Surveillance system (VSS) to 31 stations under the South Western Railways across Karnataka.

The VSS system will monitor waiting halls, parking areas, reservation counters, main entrance and exit, platforms, foot overbridges and booking offices.The system offers video surveillance, face detection, leftover baggage detection among other things.

These cameras can be monitored by security personnel at all times from station control rooms as well as from the Divisional Central Security control rooms located at Hubballi, Mysore and Bengaluru.


Under the first phase, VSS has been installed at Ballari, Belagavi, Vasco da Gama, Bengaluru Cantonment, Bangarapet, Hassan, Krishnarajapuram, Shivamogga Town, and Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam. By 2021, an additional 21 stations are expected to be covered under the second phase.
