The mountains are calling…and you must go!
Roads to the mountains are unforgiving. So to reach the highest points, we have some tips for you. From what you should wear to what you should eat, we have covered everything for you.
Have a proper plan
To start with, you must plan out everything. From where you should go, where you should halt/stop, what you should carry and so on–you must have a mental blueprint of the whole trip. A proper plan make things really easy.
Carry emergency medicines
While travelling to the mountains there is a chance of acute mountain sickness which occurs due to less oxygen and humidity. The symptoms are:
Loss of energy
Loss of appetite
So consult a doctor and carry the necessary medicines before you start travelling.
Carry a map or a guide book
Why should you carry a map? Because when you travel to a hill station, chances of getting poor network strength is high and moreover, help from other people is also not certain. So for an uninterrupted journey, carry a map or save the map in your phone.
Don’t rush yourself
Mountains can make you really tired. Flatland driving and travelling is way easier than travelling to high altitude places. So we advise you to just relax and have fun in one of the mountain resorts and then hit the challenging roads again.
Always dress in layers
Check the weather forecast before you pack/dress up for mountains. Usually, the days are quite warm and nights are often cold. So always dress up in layers to avoid any kind of discomfort caused by the weather.
Watch what you drink
Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. Do monitor your alcohol and caffeine intake while travelling. And carry sports drinks for energy throughout the road trip.
Research for restaurants before you start travelling
Finding a restaurant in the mountains can be a tiring task. So carry energy bars, snacks and fruits as refreshments till you reach the desired spot. And do carry ginger in case you experience nausea.
