It’s learnt that Dinesh Kumar, Ambala Divisional Railway Manager, has confirmed the approval of request by the CRS and formal announcement by the Railway Board would be made in July post the release of the new timetable. The officials say, though the semi-high speed project is in process and would take a long time to complete, increasing the speed of Shatabdi would benefit many commuters.

If you a regular Shatabdi traveller, you will find this helpful. Further your convenience by checking your train’s running status.

Presently, three Shatabdi trains that run from Chandigarh to New Delhi and vice-versa (speed of 110 km/hr) take around four hours and five minutes. After the implementation of the approved request, the trains would run at a speed of 130 km/hr and take only three and a half hours to complete the same journey, which means the travelling time would be cut short by 20 to 25 minutes (permission has been granted between Delhi and Ambala stretch).
