Soon, passengers flying from Chennai Airport will not ‘face’ the need to carry boarding passes as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to implement DigiYatra, a facial recognition verification system by 2021.
DigiYatra is a government initiative that will allow passengers to be automatically processed at airports based on facial recognition systems at checkpoints. These include entry-point check, security check, aircraft boarding check as well as self-bag drop and check-in.
