As per these new guidelines, wearing face masks in indoor public places is no longer mandatory. The government also notified that international tourists are not required to produce a proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test report anymore.

By making South Africa more accessible to foreign travellers, these relaxations are expected to boost tourism in the country. The government, however, insisted that people should still maintain hygiene and wear masks in public spaces. It encouraged the citizens to continue taking precautions in schools, malls, restaurants and other such spaces.
