Train 18 services to begin ahead of Ardh Kumbh Mela

The Indian Railways is likely to begin the much-awaited ‘Train 18’ between Delhi and Varanasi ahead of the Ardh Kumbh Mela.

The train is 45 percent faster than the fastest train on this route. The train will run at a speed of 130 kmph. It will reduce the journey time between the two cities from the present 11 hours and 30 minutes to 8 hours.

The fully air-conditioned train will have 16 chair-car type coaches. It will comprise of 2 executive chair cars and 14 non-executive chair cars. The executive chair and the non-executive chair car can accommodate 56 and 78 passengers respectively.

According to a source, “Date will be finalised once the Railways gets a nod from the PMO. The train fare is not finalised yet, but it is expected to include the cover of food.”
