1. Goa-The fun capital

Goa is and will always be a favourite winter destination with sandy beaches, shining sun and swaying palms. Though it remains packed with tourists all through October till February, you will love the vibrant ambience of the place.

2. Haflong-Fresh fruit, fresh air and warm sunshine

Even though this pretty hill town is an all year round destination, winter months are the best to explore the city of Haflong. The days are pleasant and sunny, making it one of the best places to go for morning and evening walks. Don’t forget to pack heavy woollens as the temperature goes to almost zero degree at night.

3. Lunglei-the offbeat one!

If your idea of a winter holiday is all about snow-capped peaks and some quietude, then a trip to Lunglei will take care of this. A small and sleepy town, Lunglei is all about beautiful views with only your thoughts for the company.

4. Gulmarg-Skiing capital

Often treated as a day trip away from Srinagar, Gulmarg ( ‘meadow of flowers’) is a huge meadow ringed by fir trees and snowy peaks deserving more attention!

Even though winter months are freezing, they also give you an option of skiing in the snow-capped peaks. The Gondola cable car, which makes Gulmarg the highest lift accessible ski terrain in the world, is a big attraction for skiers and non-skiers.

5. Jaisalmer-Sunny winters

Jaisalmer is a small walkable town and the fort, built on a small hill called Trikuta, is its essence. And that is one reason why it is recommended to visit this city in winter months to escape scorching heat as summer is unbearable here. Best time to take a trip to Jaisalmer is from October to March with cool breezes and a pleasant sun.

6. Karnala-The beach town

Karnala is a great place for a quick break with friends and family, just a short drive around the corner from Mumbai. The Karnala Bird Sanctuary is where you can enjoy thick forests, entwining vines and wild ferns. The other attraction is the intriguing hill fort of Karnala that attracts many trekkers.

7. Gwalior-A glorious past

The small city of Gwalior still bears the stamp of a place that has seen much grandeur and knows it. It is one of those cities which is perfect for a short 2 day winter break as the weather is lovely during this time. The Old City makes for an interesting stroll and you will love to explore the city on foot, absorbing the local flavours.

8. Devprayag-The holy connect

A small town in Uttarakhand, Devprayag should be in your bucket list if you want to enjoy the winter chill without so many tourists around. Don’t forget to pack heavy woolens as the temperature ranges between 0 degree to -18 degree celsius in the months of December and January.

9. Andaman-A beach holiday

Sunny days, lovely beaches and amazing views of the sea–that is all a vacation in Andaman will spell out for you. It is a perfect holiday if your idea of a winter break is exciting water sports, sea surfing and lazing around the beach.
